Springs of Life VS Rivers of Living waters

Springs and Rivers

Have you ever thought about Yeshua's conversations in John 4 with the woman at the well and then John 7 at Sukkot with the water libation ceremony? Or wondered at the difference of words he chose of Spring of water and then Rivers of Living water?

John 4:10,14 Jesus replied, “If you only knew who I am and the gift that God wants to give you—you’d ask me for a drink, and I would give to you living water.”
but if anyone drinks the living water I give them, they will never thirst again and will be forever satisfied! For when you drink the water I give you it becomes a gushing fountain of the Holy Spirit, springing up and flooding you with endless life!”

John 7:37-39 Then on the most important day of the feast, the last day, Jesus stood and shouted out to the crowds—“All you thirsty ones, come to me! Come to me and drink! Believe in me so that rivers of living water will burst out from within you, flowing from your innermost being, just like the Scripture says!" Jesus was prophesying about the Holy Spirit that believers were being prepared to receive. But the Holy Spirit had not yet been poured out upon them, because Jesus had not yet been unveiled in his full splendor.

A spring is typically small and for personal use.

Rivers are for regions, nations and continents.

Eternal life, in the discourse of John 4 is about your personal relationship and indwelling of Holy Spirit. You will never thirst again.

Spirit poured out, Acts 2,  jump starts the spring to become a powerful life giving source to give away this water.

You were not created to hoard the water to your self- you are to bubble up and out to everyone around you.

Many have been taught that at your salvation experience you get everything you need. But if that was so, why did Yeshua say to ask? Why would they have needed to wait in Jerusalem? Why after the initial waiting did the disciples give testimony to asking others if they had received Holy Spirit?

Eternal life- well spring.
Spirit activated- Rivers

Holy Spirit is as gentle as a dove and wants to be desired and invited to take over. He knows what holds a person back from being fully consumed. It scares most religious folks and institutions to have a force beyond their intellect to take over... yet, if one holds back Spirit respects the human will.

So how do we let this River out?

We must die to ourselves by entering into Messiah's death, burial and resurrection and surrendering our heart, soul (will and emotions), mind (thoughts), and might to the King. He is Lord and ultimate Supreme. This is an internal decision with then an outward demonstration of being baptized in water.

Upon that full surrender, Holy Spirit has renewed and rejuvenated the inner man, this eternal life spring is activated and one becomes a child of God.

Now, comes the opportunity to become a fully immersed disciple of Yeshua in fire and walking in power.
This baptism of Holy Spirit sets the rivers into motion. This is different than water baptism because it comes upon you when the heart posture says yes and is willing to receive. The evidence of this is by the bubbling up and out through the mouth. Yeshua gave this sign for the hearers to know the power has come upon surrendered disciples. And it was this sign that let the disciples know the Promise was fulfilled. Power and babbling tongues were the sign. Many focus on tongues, but that is the outward demonstration, for it was to also come with power. Power is the rivers of living water for you cannot stop a river.

The Well Springing up brings the close proximity of salvation and eternal position. Authorized agent to represent the Kingdom

Rivers flowing bring the power to do what Yeshua commanded disciples to do. GO! Power to do what He said to do. Heal the sick. Raise the dead, Cleanse the lepers. Cast out devils. Preach with conviction. Overcome sin, not just deal with or tolerate it. Bubbling over with joy. No fear, boldness. Disrupting regions and displacing principalities.

Perhaps our wells need a revitalization and redigging and an electric charging!
