Google's Doodle and Communion

Recently Google's search bar included the Doodle for Google picture winner. It is of a family dinner tradition that this young lady wanted to remember and keep alive. 

It made me reflect upon the desire this girl has and the importance of communion around the table. 

Communion defined- 

• an act or instance of sharing
• an exchange of thoughts or emotions 
• sharing in common
• the feeling of being a part of something

What if what we have dwindled the shot of grape juice and sliver of a melty cracker into something that was NOT instituted by Messiah and the believers? 

Why eat a happy meal when you can gather around a home cooked meal?

What if it was not about the religious elements so much as about the people around the table who reflect on the King together?

What if oneness of mind and unity of spirit is something that CAN be attained by eating meals together vs agreeing on doctrine and rightness of Scriptures?

Blessed are you Lord our God, King of the Universe who brings forth bread from the earth. 

Have you ever eaten fresh bread straight from the oven, hot and slathered in butter? Or torn apart a sourdough loaf and enjoyed the crispy crust?

Communion- sharing a loaf of bread

Communion- exchanging meaningful conversations and bouncing ideas around.

Communion- when we eat from each other's dishes, we are sharing and enjoying what we each made.

Communion- when we wait to eat with one another, we feel as if we are a part of a family.

When was the last time you invited someone over to simply eat and be curious about one another?
